Abstract

Banksing industry substantially enhances economic growth by enabling financial transactions, offering credit availability, and fostering investment. To maintain competitiveness, commercial banks cultivated dynamic capacities to adjust to evolving market conditions. This research investigated the impact of innovative skills, digital transformation, customer relationship management, and risk management on the performance of commercial banks in Mombasa County, Kenya. The study was directed by essential financial performance metrics, encompassing bank profitability, return on assets, return on equity, and net interest margin. A descriptive study design was employed, focusing on a sample population of 45 licensed commercial banks in Kenya. The research employed a purposive sample method, choosing 90 participants (45 Branch Managers and 45 Operations Managers) from banks in Mombasa County. The research team utilized a mix of structured questionnaires to gather primary data from the chosen organizations and people. Nine participants, or 10% of the total, from Mombasa County's business institutions served as pilot testers for the study instruments. A study assistant helped with the drop-and-pick approach of distributing and administering the questionnaires personally. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS Version 28.0) was used to conduct statistical analysis on the acquired data. Tables, graphs, and charts showcased the results, and additional analysis was carried out to ascertain the correlation between the two sets of variables.
